  • Same in all sports. Like wrestling. My son is a tall thin white boy, but wrestles in college and football players and jacked athletes think they can hang. Another world, then you put him against the best and that is another level.

  • I could play with college players. A scout team player for the Mavericks came out and just toyed with everyone. I was like this guy can not make pros. It was eye opening.

    • I mean I played with SMU players and such. I could guard many of them and I was crazy good rebounder, but again Pro Scout team player, I did not play against him but with him and still blew my mind. He was soo good he made me look great. His passes always at right time and right place. He demanded so much attention people gave me space. Was soo much fun.

  • you didn't list the NBA D-league... no? so that's another step. remember that small (6'2") white boy who had a, like, 90% 3 pt shot percentage in game? 'Perchant' or something, his name was...? The Knicks put him in a couple of times and he often scored a few threes in just a few seconds. But the coaches said he wasn't fast enough on Defense, so he is in D league... W O W...

  • Professional sport players are called professionals for a reason. They’re not just above average, they can’t even be classified as average. You can’t expect to take on someone who’s rigorously trained their entire lives for one sport when you play it on the weekends.

  • This video made me laugh cus I see lots of out of touch dudes say they could do better than say Kuzma. It's frustrating when after a 26 point game he puts up 4 but c'mon. I remember Scalabrini. I wish five former NBA bench players went around the country challenging street hoopers who think they are hot sauce. That's be ratings gold.

  • Loved the video and agree that PERSPECTIVE is key. Something important to note is that not only is the perspective of how good these non-pros think they are is skewed (because they regularly school some poor souls at the local gym), their (and most everyone's) perspective of how "slow" the below-average NBA players are is also skewed by what they see on TV. Not to pick on Scalabrine, but most of the footage we see on TV is of him getting beat by players slightly better than him. I would argue that this latter skewed perspective is more the cause of the arrogance than the former.

And yours truly played against retired Knick forward at Amsterdam park on 167 street and Amsterdam ave. This was in 1989 and he and i went basket for basket until we reached 14 to 13 or something like that so no your perspective is not an absolute truth.

I watched him play in the NBA and don’t remember this and that’s because the people in front of him were so good he never got on the court that much. When you make the NBA you literally have beat out millions of people for that roster spot.
