  • Not sure what the problem is? Just sell it with the official factory miles offered to you on paper. You are making a problem where none exists. Sounds like Indian replaced the Odometer chip, completely, wiping out the true mileage; which is why they gave you the official miles, on paper (for selling and legal purposes).

  • Ok, so...a nail in the tire and you can't wait a day to order a tire? That's Indian's fault? You changed an odometer due to failure, and you can't just tell the prospective buyer the odometer failed and can't be changed (block on title says 'not true or original mileage..check here')? Indian DID replace the odometer! Not quite sure how your complaints are legitimate...there are NUMEROUS LAWS about 'tampering' with odometers...and in fact, in the state you reference, the law DOES STATE 'the end user cannot alter the displayed reading'...and as the law was meant to stop unscrupulous resale dealers from REDUCING shown mileage for profit, it WAS a major problem related to warranty and value fraud on used cars and bikes! IF it was LEGAL to do 'alterations', there would be a million tools on the market to make this EASY TO DO! Consider that, for a moment! Lastly, if this had been a would NOT have posted such a video...because #HarleyLover...I guess you never thought to ask a reputable insurance company HOW THEY RECOMMEND such a situation be handled, when a 'dropped rebuild' occurs...nope...just 'bad Indian' usual.

  • Hey brother, I love your attitude. However, don't you think that it would've been best to be forthright in the ebay advertisement about the odometer? That seems like a pretty big detail someone would want to know. What if an individual had bought it? You state the Golden Rule, in another video. Wouldn't you have wanted to know this about that bike if you had bought it? Just a thought, hindsight is always 20/20.

  • Replacing a worn out or defective speedo isn't all that novel so I'm not sure why you'd have an problem getting the new odometer certified, end of issue. This isn't a fault of Indian, this is a fault of an uninformed technician at the Indian dealership and lack of knowledge on the part of the used bike seller. This isn't particular to Indian as all new bikes from all manufacturers come with an electronic odometer and if replaced requires certification to protect the seller and buyer. Due diligence guys, due diligence!

  • I can tell you have absolutely no experience in odometers. It is not illegal to change speedometers. You certainly can change the speedometer head. It is also against federal law to change the numbers on the odometer of either head. When you change speedometer you cannot change the odometer numbers to the original mileage. You must leave it the way it is and yes you get a certification of the old odometer reading along with the new odometer reading so the new owner can figure out the original mileage of the bike. Go talk to a junkyard and get a clue. Go to a 18-wheeler shop and talk to the mechanic. Just because you have a bunch of stuff behind you that resembles a shop does not mean you are a mechanic. Get it together. You think I'm stupid? Why do you think on the vehicle titles there is a box you have to check if the speedometer or odometer mechanism has been changed and it is not the original mileage.

  • Am I to take the title of this video seriously? You refuse to deal in Indian motorcycles due to 1) your mistake of leaving the paperwork in the saddle bag and 2) your need to replace the tire quickly, therefore requiring you to pay dealer cost rather than doing it yourself, which you acknowledge would have been cheaper. Gotcha. Just makes YOU look dumb. Not Indian 🤔🙄

Changed a 018 speedo on a road king from stock to a combo w/ tach from HD factory catalogue and it ran backwards for 30 miles and it reset right on the actual miles on display.

Apparently this is normal and readily accepted practice. I did not think twice about it. Should have gone with the slip of paper from the dealer. Could have had an additional document notarized too for a whole lot less than $850.
