How Costco Became A Massive "Members Only" Retailer

Costco makes billions doing what in retail might once have been thought unthinkable: charge people to shop there. The company draws most of its income from membership fees, and has a nearly 90 percent membership renewal rate. It charges very low prices on goods, rotates its inventory, and pays employees better than the retail average. But how long can it last?

    Jerry LundJerry LundPrieš 18 dienų
    • They were right to call the cops on you. If it's so much inconvenience to put a mask on, then how do you find the will to get up in the morning. Whether you want to accept the pandemic or not, those are the rules for shopping in the store, throw a mask on, wear it properly and take it off after you leave. It's not that hard. If you don't like it, shop somewhere else. People dont have to be such whiny babies over this stuff, just deal with the very MINOR inconvenience, and move on with your life. Also, Science has proven they do work.

  • You can go to walmart where you pay cheap price for cheap stuffs. You can go to Amazon for fake products with premium price(aka fools)...but you can also go to Costco, for awesome price for high quality products. Because Costco really stand behind the products they sell at such a price, I may buy everything else online but, for everything else they sell at Costco, I am going to Costco...forever.

  • Kirkland is actually a very popular brand in China as many grey market exporters sell in online and in stores in HK and China. I saw 2 stores in HK that basically just resold Kirkland brand items. I met folks in 3rd tier cities who asked why Costco hadn’t open stores in China like other western brands 5-6 years ago. It wasn’t a surprise to see the SH store mobbed.

The easiest way to root out people. No one will complain and everyone who can afford to shop there feels special.

  • Costco also has lots of organic options which is what attracts us. Many people don't believe in organic produce. Last year we bought 20 acre farmland to open an organic UPick farm (which I am documenting on LTworlds , you can check that on my channel). We got the USDA organic certification 2 months ago. It is amazing to experience the amount of paperwork, paper trail, record keeping, soil testing and random produce testing that is involved in getting organic certification and keeping the certification current. Organic is truly organic! Ofcourse there are some cheaters but when they get caught, they get their license revoked.

  • only problem is you forgot to tell how costco became a massive retailer! remember the federal reserve act? its not federal! its private. how about federal express? its not federal, its a private company. how about fed mart? it started out as a members only outlet for federal employee's, then switched to a regular retail store called target. you see , the jew sol price gained a ton of credibility by portraying fed mart as a govt. entity. this is the exact same way the price club rose to such popularity. on the pretense of patriotism and federal oversight fed mart created the buzz that followed sol price as he launched the price club which made costco possible.price used to pose as a govt entity and that created a groundswell of support and loyaty. that momentum had everything to do with costco's success.
