  • I don't know if it's accurate to call the pasta "healthier". It's more like we're making the food less efficient and, as a consequence, less fattening. If we still have to digest it then we're making our bodies do more work for the calories, thus wearing them down faster.

The problem isn’t that pasta is high in carbs (carbs are NOT bad for you) its that it is VERY calorie dense and it’s calories in calories out you can’t break the laws of thermodynamics lol Adjusting the temperature will not alter the calories of it. Eat the biggest chunkiest pasta you can find :) And yes......1 serving of pasta is shockingly small! In Italy, pasta is a side dish....not the whole meal.

  • This is so visibly false it’s insane. Reheating pasta a dozen times over barely lowers the Glycemic Index by a hair. It’s calories in, calories out. There’s no hack or secret to this: pasta is a high calorie food, and you can reheat it 20 times if you want, it doesn’t matter. If you want to lose weight, you have to be in a caloric deficit, and if you wanna be in a caloric deficit, you have to eat less pasta.

  • This video is so horribly uninformed and actively harmful it really makes me question Mat's intelligence. I really wasn't expecting to hear something so actively dumb from him. To anyone reading this that may have weight troubles, just watch your calories, that's all. It's that simple.

    Xeno CrossXeno CrossPrieš 3 dienas
  • In terms of weight loss, this is very misleading. Reheating pasta will NOT reduce the amount of calories it contains. Carbs are not the cause of obesity, high caloric intake and low caloric expenditure is the main cause. Carbs do indeed make you hungrier in some cases but will not directly cause you to gain weight. Reheating pasta will only SLIGHTLY lower its glycemic index, this barely impacts its calories. I am extremely disappointed, as matpat is usually pretty strong in his use of science for truth rather than spews. The best way to reduce calories by eating pasta is to either eat less of it, or buy a version with lower calories.

  • No matter how many times you reheat pasta, it’s still calories in and calories out if you want to lose weight, gain weight or maintain. The calories and carbs don’t magically disappear from pasta if you reheat it.

    • @Yellow Oi Oh, my bad. Seems there was a throwaway mention of weight for a second there, though not 2 minutes of it as you say. I'd argue the overall contents of the rest of the video is not related to weight management as they talk about the impact of simple carbs, glycemix index, insulin, diabetes, etc. Which none of are related to weight management - well, not beyond satiety, anyway, or you're at risk or with diabetes. I guess I'm just tired of people blurting out CICO everywhere when nutrition is the topic. Nutrition science is so much more than weight. I'm not disputing CICO, obviously, I just think it's annoyingly shallow when people hijack nutrition topics with a dismissive CICO comment. Weight management (or should I say weight loss) does not equal health. Which is what this video is essentially about: how to eat a refined carb without as much of the bad health effects. Though I can't say this channel is the epidome of nutrition science, so maybe I'm expecting too much from the comments. Pasta is besides extremely easy to make from scratch, not to mention cheap. People could just make whole grain pasta if they love it so much.
