A mock B61-12’s strike in the dusty Nevada desert successfully completed the first in a series of flight tests with the U.S. Air Force’s newest fighter jet, demonstrating the bomb’s first release from an internal bomb bay at greater than the speed of sound.

  • This is the game changer, stealth jet fighter loads B61-12 nuclear bomb. B2/B21 is costing (flight costs and risks) for nuclear missions, f35 could easily break the enemy’s air defense line and handle the nuclear missions.

  • Why does the F35 need to be able to drop a B61? Single person in control of nuke? Nope, no thank you.

    • @Cooper That would be in violation of US law requiring "two man policy" around all nuclear weapons.

      Phillip McMurranPhillip McMurranPrieš mėn
    • That’s not how it works, buddy. The pilot receives a code to arm the weapon then another code to release/fire weapons. These codes aren’t given until approved by whoever it is that approves this level of weaponry. The pilot doesn’t have control in these situations.

    • Obviously you haven't heard of nearly every US aircraft since the 50s being able to carry nukes.

  • Stupidity of our civilisation has no boundaries. Just imagine.. money spent for wars should be direct for new technologies and exploration of new sources of power. No, better is fight each other all time.

    • @h4rp4g4n 1) it's spelled civilization. 2) Your money would be better spent taking english classes if you want to run your mouth in said language.

    • @Valter Giardini b61 mod 11 has max yield as 400kt, w88 has 475kt max yield... B61 mod 12 adept the low yield to fulfill the new nuclear tactical mission... larger yield is for strategic mission...

      Ti XeTi XePrieš 7 dienų
    • @Ti Xe they were 475 kt, why they diminished?

      Valter GiardiniValter GiardiniPrieš 8 dienų
    • @Phillip McMurran in fact, b61-12 is a low yield bomb, with max yield as 50kt, this is the truly game changer...

      Ti XeTi XePrieš 8 dienų
    • @Valter Giardini EM shielding is basic for any stealth plane, EMP is not a problem for any nuclear mission plane

      Ti XeTi XePrieš 8 dienų
    • @Phillip McMurran the initial phase of 400kt blast radius is very small compared with f35 low altitude flyover (in fact, any nuclear mission has a defined “secure” altitude that f35 also need to obey), until mid/final phase of blast, the f35 flys away with supersonic speed.
